A passport alone is enough

It is the only document that proves identity and foreign status by itself. For a dependent, it must show a U.S. date of entry, or more documents are needed.

Without a passport, send at least two

Together they must prove identity and foreign status. At least one needs your photo, unless the applicant is a dependent under 14, or under 18 if a student.

Originals or certified copies only

A certified copy must come from the agency that issued the document. Notarized copies are not accepted, except for spouses and dependents of U.S. military personnel applying from overseas.
